Once you have a good feel for the game, and aren't scared by the military aspects so much anymore, I highly encourage you to look into some expansion pack mod sets that add many new civilizations, workshops, weapons and materials, all kinds of shit.īasically, this game has been modded to the point where people can just add in items that they want. Im so glad more and more people are looking at this game. You can go into the keybindings, and find out what went wrong with the menu scrolling - and + should be working, but if not you can change them back - and +. Is there a quick-reference chart or something to help me determine what I'm looking at? Secondly, I'm using phoebus graphics pack. Using + and - doesn't navigate through the menus so I can't scroll down to select different things. First of all, the scroll key bindings aren't working. However theres a few things I need help with. Very helpful and useful and I learned lots. So I downloaded the lazy newb pack and watched his videos up till about 11. I started myself while the SC2 servers were down the other day and it's already cutting into ladder time. It comes ready packaged with a couple of the better tilesets (at least that I've seen, you can choose and it'll load them for you) as well as some handy utilities.īetter still, theres an absolutely fantastic set of tutorials (recent ones) up on youtube that'll let you learn the basics in an afternoon. If you haven't yet played I would highly recommend looking at the dwarf fortress 'lazy newb pack' If you suggest a graphical tile set, could you also suggest which one? Thanks. This sort of seems like that part of the matrix where all the green symbols rain down the screen and he exclaims he's so used to it he sees past the symbols lol. Would it be best for me to get a graphical tile set or is it best to just get used to the ASCII? Can you get to the point where it doesn't matter that its ASCII because you can easily see whats going on in the screen or is it always a clutter?

I haven't yet played this game yet though. Game seems amazingly fun due to its depth I've always wanted a game like this. I'm currently at work so I couldn't play along with the quick-start guide I read on the wiki. Which is why I'm wondering if it's actually a bad idea, and I just don't see the downside. I haven't seen anyone else manipulate the labor like I have. And, since skills can be hard to come by, and at times you don't need to have 3 highly skilled workers doing that job, I can spread around the labor a lot easier. If I stop him from running around, and get 2 others who don't have as much skill doing the lifting, then I can get as much done as only having 3 skilled workers doing that job. This is especially bad for specialties like miners. Most of the guys seem to spend 2/3 of their time running around, rather than doing what they're good at. That's just it, I think it's actually more efficient. As long as they don't go on murderous rampages because they are tired of hauling barrels or beds, what could be bad about it? :p I'm sure it's not the most efficient thing in the world, but w/e.
